Summary
My project is within the field of single particle catalysis where the goal to gain insight in how the catalytic properties of single nanoparticles is affected by their morphology. I approach this challenge by combining different types of microscopy and spectroscopy techniques with nanofluidic devices where catalytic nanoparticles can be placed or captured. A chemical reaction taking place in a channel on the nm-scale can be detected by how light interacts differently with the interface of channel wall and the reactant, respective the interface of the wall and the product. I find this principle fascinating and am happy to be part of the team where we continue to explore how this can employed to deepen the understanding of heterogenous catalysis.
